Ouagadougou: The organizing committee of the Tamasheq Culture Festival (FECTA) announced Saturday in Ouagadougou that the second edition of the event is scheduled from November 28 to 30, 2025, at the National Museum of Burkina Faso. The festival aims to bolster social cohesion and showcase the rich Tamasheq heritage.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival, themed “Valuing culture: a vector of peace, resilience and community development,” seeks to create a space for unity and cultural preservation amidst various crises. Issoufa Ag Mouzerata Dicko, chairman of the organizing committee, stated that FECTA embodies “an act of unity, of resilience, an invitation to celebrate what is most precious to us: our culture and our shared humanity.”
The FECTA 2025 itinerary includes diverse events such as a conference-debate led by Professor Alkasoum Maiga on cultural valorization challenges and a panel on community entrepreneurship organized by APEC. Additionally, there will be a Tamasheq fashion show featuring traditional clothing, training sessions on conflict management and peacebuilding, and an introduction to Tamasheq art and traditions aimed at fostering intergenerational knowledge transfer.
Furthermore, the festival will feature craft, gastronomic, and artistic exhibitions, drawing creators from Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Ivory Coast, and Ghana, thus emphasizing the event’s sub-regional relevance.
Ehia Ag Ihinane, a member of the organizing committee, expressed that the festival serves as “a call for peace and the promotion of the cultural riches of Burkina Faso and the world.” He urged the community to unite in the pursuit of peace in Burkina Faso.
