Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment recognized the merits of 236 recipients on Wednesday in Ouagadougou, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministry honored 236 individuals for their contributions in 2025, including 21 recipients of the Order of the Stallion, 34 recipients of the Burkinabe Order of Merit, and 181 recipients of the Order of Merit for Youth and Sports. The ceremony on December 17 saw 196 recipients being recognized, consisting of 20 recipients of the Order of the Stallion: 1 Officer and 19 Knights; 31 individuals awarded the Order of Merit of Burkina Faso, including one Commander, two Officers, and 28 Knights; and 136 individuals awarded the Order of Merit for Youth and Sports, comprising one Commander, eight Officers, and 136 Knights.
The Minister of Sports, Youth, and Employment, Roland Somda, presided over the ceremony with five other government members. He emphasized that the distinctions were not merely a recognition of years of service but an acknowledgment of the recipients' commitment to serving the nation, contributing to the development of Burkinabe sport, mentoring young people, and promoting employment and socioeconomic empowerment.
The Minister praised the recognized staff for their resilience, loyalty, and exemplary commitment to quality public service, aiming to satisfy the users of the department. The honored individuals, especially those in the employment sector and those promoting Burkinabe sport, expressed their dedication to continue their efforts for national development.
Abdoulaye Compaore, president of the Beog-neere association, expressed gratitude upon receiving the award. He highlighted the significance of collective work and the motivation it provides to continue his efforts. He noted that the authorities monitored their work over four years, which led to this recognition. Compaore dedicated the award to his family and supporters, expressing hope for continued hard work and blessings for Burkina Faso.
