Nobinon: Members of the "Nazinon-Gold" mining cooperative were officially installed in a ceremony presided over by Herve Kalmogo, Regional Director of Mines, Quarries and Energy for the Centre-South region. This event marked a significant step towards reorganizing artisanal gold mining to benefit local development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the reception hall at Nobere town hall was filled with administrative, customary, and religious authorities, as well as a highly mobilized population, who gathered to witness the installation of the mining cooperative's board. Herve Kalmogo, in a speech, called for unity among stakeholders to ensure that the commune of Nobere and Burkina Faso fully benefit from the resource.
Pierre Kafando, President of the Special Delegation of Nobere, expressed the local administration's willingness to support mining activities and stressed the importance of social cohesion and tolerance for development. Soumala Ouedraogo from the Directorate General of Mines and Geology explained the cooperative approach, which aims to end the anarchy of uncontrolled artisanal mining by promoting transparent management and collective benefit.
During the ceremony, the importance of the national fundraising campaign "DEME SIRA" was reiterated. The attendees raised a total of 658,200 CFA francs, including an exceptional donation of 500,000 CFA francs from the new cooperative. Alexis Dackio, the special envoy of the Minister of Mines, Quarries and Energy, conveyed the Minister's encouragement and highlighted the significance of the site opening.
The event also included the unanimous adoption of the cooperative's statutes and internal regulations. The headquarters of the "Nazinon-Gold" cooperative will be located in Nobere. The ceremony concluded in a friendly atmosphere with a family photo, symbolizing the new beginning of mining activity in the area.
