Guiriko/SOBTO Visit: Civil Society Organizations Welcome APEC’s Progress

Guiriko: Civil society actors who are subscribers visited the factory of the Burkinabe Tomato Company (SOBTO) on Friday, February 13, at the initiative of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC), in a concern for transparency and accountability. Led by APEC's Director General, Karim Traor©, the delegation was able to observe firsthand the operations of the industrial unit specializing in tomato processing.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this visit is part of the ongoing effort to provide subscribers with regular updates on the management and progress of projects resulting from popular shareholding. 'Our discussions allowed us to present a summary of savings collection as well as a detailed overview of ongoing activities, including the Tenkodogo plant under construction and the Gaoua mine,' Traor© stated. He also informed the visitors that the new cooperative society responsible for popular shareholding is currently recruiting focal points in all provinces of Burkina Faso. These focal points will be tasked with collecting funds, disseminating information, and raising awareness.

Following this stage, the Director General explained, an inclusive governance structure will be put in place, with the election of delegates and their deputies in each region of the country.

The Secretary General of the National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC), Houet branch, Ms. Jos©phine Ou©draogo/Traor©, expressed her appreciation for the facilities she visited. "The factory is operating well, and we commend the vision of Captain Ibrahim Traor©, who took the initiative to establish a tomato processing plant in Bobo-Dioulasso," she declared, affirming her organization's commitment to acting as an ambassador for the promotion of the factory's products.

Minata Kabor©, a student at Nazi Boni University, shared this satisfaction and encouraged her fellow students to trust the presidential initiative. She welcomed the availability of locally produced tomato paste, considering it an important step towards promoting the consumption of domestic products.
