Ouahigouya: As part of the commemoration of the 169th International Women's Day, the Regional Coordination of Women of the Yaadga region was sensitized on Saturday, March 7, to take part in conflict resolution and the promotion of peace, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference was held under the theme of the March 8th event, "Building lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contributions from women and girls to the promotion of living together?", chaired by the governor of the region, Thomas Yampa.
This conference on the theme of the commemorative day was held at the women's center in Ouahigouya. Women-residents, displaced persons, traditional leaders, members of several youth and women's associations, and administrative authorities, among others, mobilized to gain a better understanding of the theme.
In his capacity as president of the conference, Governor Thomas Yampa indicated that, beyond the relevance of the proposed theme, this year's International Women's Day focuses on promoting leadership and entrepreneurship for women and girls in the region. "I remain convinced that such a mindset, supported by concrete actions and everyone's commitment to women, will strengthen their capacity to contribute effectively to social cohesion and the development of the entire nation," Governor Yampa affirmed.
For her part, the regional women's coordinator, Dj©neba Sodr©/Sangarba, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the women of Yaadga to the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, to his government and to the technical and financial partners for the concrete actions in favor of the empowerment of women.
'The women of Yaadga are not just peacemakers, but true pillars and architects of the promotion of living together. I hope that the contributions aimed at enriching the theme of the conference will allow women to be active through concrete initiatives to build lasting peace in Burkina Faso,' said Ms. Sodr©.
The theme was jointly analyzed and translated into the local Moor© language by the regional women's coordinator and the regional director of family and solidarity. Contributions and concerns related to the theme allowed the audience to better understand the issues at stake.
A visit to women's exhibition stands brought this activity to a close, an activity which was supported technically and financially by partners.
