Kampti: In an atmosphere imbued with fervor, spirituality, and unity, the Bibi¨l cultural space in Kampti served as the setting for the celebration of the festival of customs and traditions, bringing together representatives of the 117 villages of the commune.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival was marked by ancestral rites, messages of social cohesion, and calls to safeguard local values. The event witnessed the presence of administrative, paramilitary, and religious authorities, showcasing a shared commitment to preserving cultural identity.
Residents of Kampti turned out in large numbers to participate in the festival at the Bibi¨l cultural space. The day was dedicated to communion with the ancestors and brought together people from all 117 villages. Traditional invocations, blessings, and messages of peace were prominent throughout the event.
Bªbª Kambir©, also known as "Massak´," addressed the gathering on behalf of the customary people. He urged attendees to appreciate the foundations of traditional values, emphasizing the distinction between tradition, custom, and religion. Kambir© described tradition as cultural heritage passed down through generations, while custom refers to community-specific social practices and rules. He stressed that religion is a spiritual belief, but customs form the foundation of identity and existence.
For Massak´, the festival was a moment of communion with the ancestors, seen as "our ancestors and our invisible protectors." He encouraged young people to engage with cultural and traditional values to ensure the continuation and transmission of ancestral knowledge. He warned that forgetting customs leads to the gradual loss of identity and history.
The ceremony was attended by the priest of the Catholic parish of Kampti, his vicar, and various administrative and paramilitary authorities. Traditional chiefs, notables, and citizens from the commune's villages also participated. Songs, dances, skits, blessings, and traditional rites were performed, with prayers offered for peace, social cohesion, and the development of Kampti and Burkina Faso.
