Burkinabe Artists Impress Togolese Minister with Granite Sculptures

Accra: The Togolese Minister of Culture, Isaac Tchiakp© Pascal Y©lian, expressed his admiration for the creativity of Burkinabe artists during his visit to the Laongo granite sculpture site and the craft village in Ouagadougou. He highlighted his eagerness to return soon to experience the profound emotion conveyed by the artists.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Y©lian emphasized Burkina Faso's role as a central hub of artistic creativity in Africa, noting its effectiveness in organizing cultural, artistic, and tourist activities around major national and international events. He expressed a strong desire to return to immerse himself further in the artistic works and share his experiences with others.

During his visit to the Laongo granite sculpture site, located approximately thirty kilometers from Ouagadougou, the minister praised the unique blend of nature and artistic creation. He commented on the impressive interaction between the natural elements and the creativity they inspire.

Minister Y©lian also noted his appreciation for the bronze works in the artists' studios, particularly those depicting human figures. He remarked on the profound impact these works had on him, stating that they seemed to communicate directly with viewers, showcasing the successful conveyance of emotion by the artists.

Accompanying the Togolese delegation was Sy Christian Innocent Ouattara, chief of staff of the Minister of Communication, who emphasized that the visit would aid in promoting Burkinabe culture and tourism. He encouraged locals to explore the cultural and natural treasures of Burkina Faso, highlighting the beauty of the artists' works and the country's natural landscapes.

Minister Y©lian arrived in Ouagadougou on Friday, May 15, 2026, to participate in the 13th Night of the Golden Marley, scheduled for Saturday at the Ouagadougou International Arts and Crafts Fair (SIAO).
