N'dorola: The commune of N'Dorola in the province of K©n©dougou marked the 3rd edition of the Day of Customs and Traditions on Friday, May 15, 2026, focusing on social cohesion, peace, and prosperity in Burkina Faso through customary rites and offerings to the spirits of the ancestors.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony took place on a hillside, drawing administrative and traditional authorities along with numerous residents who gathered to honor their cultural and spiritual heritage. The event highlighted the importance of local customs in promoting unity and prosperity across the nation.
One of the village elders, Koulb¨r¨ Sessouma, emphasized the significance of May 15th, a day set by the government to celebrate customs and traditions, aiming to strengthen cultural identities and reconnect with the roots for a united Burkina Faso. He noted, "These poultry, goats, and sheep, sacrificed here, constitute our offerings to the spirits of our ancestors so that they may intercede with God for the peace, security, and prosperity of Burkina Faso."
The traditional chief, Koulz© Sessouma, inaugurated the festivities, which included ritual sacrifices on traditional altars, ancestral invocations, and balafon performances, fostering an environment of social unity.
Amadou Traor©, the first vice-president of the special delegation of N'dorola, acknowledged the significance of dedicating a day to customs and traditions, underscoring its role in promoting cultural unity and peace.
