His Majesty Naaba Koom Officially Installed as Head of Zaogo Canton

Meguet: His Majesty Naaba Koom, the traditional chief of the Zaogo canton, held his Nayougri ceremony this Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Na-Yiri in Zaogo. This traditional ceremony officially marks his installation as head of the canton. He was enthroned on June 21, 2025, by His Majesty Naaba Yemd©, Kourit-Yir Soaba.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Naaba Koom, which means 'Ko peulog kon yonk R©¨gdo', Naaba Koanga, which means 'Koang rat waagbo, bi a belem sobgo', and Naaba Relwend©, whose meaning is 'Rel Wend© paame kolom buudu', constitute the three reigning names of the customary chief of the canton of Zaogo.

The canton of Zaogo, headed by His Majesty Naaba Koom, encompasses several villages and neighborhoods, including Gampougdo, Goartenga, Koangtenga, Kyentenga, Ranguentenga, Wokoumfarguin, Guiguemzanguin, Loundgo, Mokbissa, and Rakonsin.

This installation has brought joy to the royal family and the people of Zaogo, who are welcoming a new traditional chief. The people reaffirmed their commitment to support him in fulfilling his mission.

Pascal Tarpaga expressed his sentiments by stating, 'I am filled with joy and pride today. He has taken his father's place and wanted to pay tribute to him by accepting to be installed as chief of the Zaogo canton. Long live our new chief. May he manage his chieftaincy with joy.'

The governor of the Nakamb© region, Y©y© Abraham Somdo, invited the new traditional chief to work for peace and social cohesion. 'As an administrative authority, we came to tell the customary authority that has just been installed that we are here for Burkina Faso, to work for the same homeland, and we are counting on him,' the governor said.

Y©y© Abraham Somdo emphasized the importance of Naaba Koom's leadership and commitment so that his people would follow him in the same direction. He urged the traditional chief to be "an architect of peace, mobilization, and social cohesion for the development of Zaogo, the Kourittenga province, the Nakamb© region, and the whole of Burkina Faso."
