Local Dignitaries Invited to Participate in the RPP

Yatenga: The royal palace of Yatenga in Ouahigouya served as the setting on Friday, May 15, for the official commemorative ceremony of the 3rd edition of the national day of customs and traditions (JCT), AIB observed. This day of celebration took place in a sober and productive manner around the theme "the place of customary chieftaincy in the popular progressive revolution".

According to Burkina Information Agency, during the ceremony held under the traditional governance of the King of Yatenga, His Majesty Naaba Kiiba, the King's spokesperson, the Baloum Naaba, praised the organization of this activity despite the mourning that struck the kingdom with the death of the Minister in charge of youth and customary affairs, Rassam Naaba Y©md©. In his speech, Baloum Naaba suggested that customary and traditional chieftaincy has long held an essential place in our societies and remains a factor of stability, social cohesion and preservation of peace through its endogenous mechanisms.

'The return to ancestral values appears as a strategic necessity for our country because it will allow us to draw on our cultural heritage for the resources needed to illuminate our future,' argued the spokesperson for Naaba Kiiba. Speaking at the ceremony, High Commissioner Claver Banc© of Yatenga, representing Governor Thomas Yampa of Yaadga, commended the community for their participation in the 3rd edition of the JCT (Day of Customs and Traditions). He reiterated the fundamental reasons for the government's institutionalization of the Day of Customs and Traditions.

'May this year's celebration be one of restored peace, social cohesion, and improved living together in the Yaadga region,' the governor's representative wished at the end of his speech. He also took the opportunity to reiterate his wishes for good health and prosperity to the King of Yatenga and all his subjects, as well as abundant rainfall throughout the kingdom.

The panel that captivated the participants' attention was led by three figures who were actors in the Democratic and Popular Revolution (RDP), namely Dr. Gampin© Didace, Alouna Traor©, and Rasman© Ou©draogo. Traditional values and revolution, traditional values and patriotism, and the involvement of customary people in the RPP process were the sub-themes addressed in the communications.

In addition to the general mobilization of the guardians of the traditions of the Yatenga kingdom, administrative authorities, members of parliament, and special envoys, religious leaders and customary chiefs from elsewhere honored the ceremony with their presence.
