Zorgho: The High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, initiated the written and oral examinations for the certification assessment of non-formal education for the 2026 session on Tuesday, May 19, in Soubdougou, within the commune of Zorgho. This session has seen a significant number of applications from primary school teachers.
According to Burkina Information Agency, provincial statistics indicate that a total of 1,728 candidates are registered in the province, comprising 1,382 women and 346 men. Among these are 398 independent candidates, including 204 women and 194 men, with 344 being primary school teachers and supervisors. All candidates are participating in examinations across 46 centers.
The Basic Education District (CEB) of Meguet accounts for the largest number of candidates with 307, while the CEB of Boudry 2 has the least, with 43 registered candidates.
During the official launch, the High Commissioner emphasized the government's commitment to non-formal education and the promotion of national languages. She stated that holding an official launch for these exams underscores the significance of what candidates learn in the context of national education policies.
Addressing candidates in the Moore language, Ms. Sorgho/Gouba encouraged them, acknowledging the enthusiasm of teachers for this certification, which she believes will enhance their ability to teach learners in national languages. She highlighted the importance of having capable teachers to promote national languages and invited candidates to strive for 'cultural and linguistic independence.'
The provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Ganzourgou, Nobila Celestine Zagre/Zoungrana, congratulated the candidates, particularly the teachers and supervisors participating in the evaluation. She emphasized the vital role of their commitment in advancing the national languages promoted by the authorities.
Ms. Zagre/Zoungrana noted the particular importance of the certificate obtained at the end of this training in the current context that emphasizes national language promotion. She encouraged greater involvement from those in the education system in this certification process.
The provincial director expressed hopes for a success rate exceeding 90% upon conclusion of the deliberations.
