Zoundwéogo: About twenty offenders arrested in Tambi Kaboré Park subject to TIGArrested by the Water and Forests in the Tambi Kaboré National Park (PNTK) for offences related to logging, poaching, and prohibited fishing methods, about twenty offenders were sensitized at the foot of the tree planted by the President of Faso before being subjected to 72 hours of community service. The work is taking place at the Guiba medicinal plant grove, a symbolic site where the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has himself planted a tree.According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Director of Water and Forests of Zoundwéogo, Lieutenant Colonel Adama Kalmogo, recalled the seriousness of the alleged acts, stressing that they contribute to the destruction of a precious natural heritage. "Our duty is to protect it for ourselves and for future generations," he said. Kalmogo also warned of the security risks associated with illegal activities in the park. "Your presence complicates our operations. We wil l not tolerate the efforts of the Defence and Security Forces being sabotaged," he warned.To strengthen awareness, Lieutenant Colonel Kalmogo recalled the example set by the Head of State. "If the President of Faso sets an example by planting a tree, who are you to destroy," he said. He also announced the launch of an initiative called the "Repair Grove", aimed at reconstituting degraded areas. "From now on, anyone caught cutting wood will be directed to this site to plant and maintain trees. They will understand how difficult it is to maintain a tree and become aware of the importance of protecting nature," he explained.One of the offenders, Aboubacar Dabré, says he has taken the measure of the damage caused in the forest. "It's my first time chopping wood. We saw the damage ourselves. Back in the village, we will advise the others," he said.
