Bougouriba: The Diebougou town hall hosted, this Monday morning, the traditional monthly raising of the national colors, the last of the year 2025. Instituted by the highest authorities of Burkina Faso, this ceremony aims to revive in each citizen the feeling of attachment to the fundamental values of the Nation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony saw a strong mobilization of the province's constituted bodies, community actors, members of the citizen watch, the Defense and Security Forces, as well as the staff of the town hall, gathered around the High Commissioner of the province, Amidou Konate.
The highlight of the event was the raising of the national colors by the municipal police, to the national anthem sung in chorus by the audience.
Speaking after the ceremony, the High Commissioner praised the sustained enthusiasm surrounding this initiative throughout the year. "I think it's been a process that has gone well overall this year, because everywhere we've gone, we've seen a very remarkable enthusiasm from the population. The established institutions, the elderly, women, community watch groups-everyone has mobilized to express their commitment, their patriotism, and their firm determination to keep our country going," he said.
For him, this initiative is a prime opportunity for gathering and raising awareness. "This flag-raising ceremony was instituted by the highest authorities who recognized it as a chance to unite the population around the shared values of our country. It is a true moment of remembrance, mobilization, and awareness," added Mr. Konate.
The host of the day, the president of the special delegation of the commune of Diebougou, Aime Ouedraogo, after thanking the provincial authority for choosing his structure, drew attention to two major concerns at the end of this year: insecurity and road accidents.
"Regarding insecurity, I first commend the Defense and Security Forces, because I know that at the end of the year, they too do not sleep so that we can sleep peacefully," he said.
Regarding traffic accidents, he called for a change in behavior. "In Diebougou, accidents are frequent, especially at the end of the year. I ask everyone to be an awareness agent, to speak to young people and the elderly so that everyone can drive slowly and respect the highway code," he urged.
Information was provided following the interventions. This included details of the ongoing registration process with the National Universal Health Insurance Fund (CNAMU) in the province. The High Commissioner urged all residents to register with the designated agents at the prefecture.
Furthermore, attendees were informed of the upcoming celebration of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the municipal police in Burkina Faso, scheduled from November 28 to December 13, 2025. To mark the occasion, several activities are planned in the municipality of Diebougou, including a fun run scheduled for Thursday, December 4 at 4:00 PM on the town's main streets. Awareness campaigns promoting respect for the highway code, particularly the wearing of helmets, are also planned to combat recurring accidents.
The next flag-raising ceremony is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, at the High Commission.
