Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, welcomed the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelaty, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and Egypt. The meeting, held on Tuesday afternoon, was centered around a message from the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi, to his Burkinabe counterpart.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Badr Abdelaty conveyed the greetings and support of President Al-Sissi to President Traor© and delivered a written message emphasizing Egypt's commitment to enhancing cooperation. The discussions covered key areas of mutual interest, including investment, trade, security, and defense, with a particular focus on counter-terrorism efforts. Dr. Abdelaty highlighted Egypt's readiness to support Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali in their joint fight against terrorism, pledging various forms of assistance.
Dr. Abdelaty expressed appreciation for President Traor©'s efforts towards African unity and the sovereignty of Burkina Faso. He stated that cooperation between the two nations could extend to sectors like agriculture, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and infrastructure, benefiting both countries. Additionally, the Egyptian envoy thanked Captain Traor© for supporting the candidacy of Dr. Khaled El-Enany, a former Egyptian Minister of Tourism, for the position of Director-General of UNESCO.
