Kourittenga Launches Project ‘Beoogo Yinga, Young People Who Sow’ Appointing Filmmakers as Ambassadors

Kourittenga: The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, initiated the 'Beoogo yinga, Youth Who Sow' project, appointing ten young filmmakers as citizen ambassadors for audiovisual media. The initiative, which commenced on February 28, 2026, is supported by the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT) and the Cultural Industries Development Support Program (PADIC).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the project spans six months and aims to empower young filmmakers selected from the Rencontres creation audiovisuelle (RCA). Each ambassador is equipped with a professional audiovisual kit to facilitate their work.

The Cinema and Local Development Association (ACDL), established in 2020 in Koupela, believes in using cinema and audiovisual media as tools for social transformation and development, especially in regions lacking such resources. Over 200 young individuals have been trained in various aspects of filmmaking through previous RCA editions, yet many lack the means to apply their skills.

Project coordinator Juliette Janine Ouango stated that the filmmakers will receive continuous professional guidance over the project duration. They will produce twenty short video clips focusing on local stories and issues, with support from mentors and professional equipment.

Ouango emphasized that the project highlights the region's stories, featuring everyday heroes, artisans, farmers, women leaders, and peace initiatives, alongside organizing mobile film clubs in the region.

The young ambassadors expressed their awareness of their responsibilities. Zabir Isidine Tarpaga noted the trust placed in them by the ACDL and their commitment to exploring and documenting Kourittenga's diversity through their films.

Kady Traore, the project's godmother, highlighted the importance of training and support in mastering the art of filmmaking. She stressed the significance of being affiliated with organizations for better communication of ideas.

Provincial director Loukoumane Badolo outlined the criteria for implementing PADIC projects, which aim to support cultural and tourism initiatives in Burkina Faso. He acknowledged the project's potential in meeting the province's needs.

Moctar Ilboudo, the High Commissioner, congratulated the ambassadors and urged them to remain committed to achieving satisfactory results for the Ministry of Communication. He also expressed support for their creative endeavors, reinforcing the project's significance.
