Kourittenga Workshop Aims to Bolster Resilience in Host Communities

Kourittenga: A workshop to formulate a contingency plan to strengthen the resilience of host communities, displaced persons, and vulnerable groups was launched in Koupela by the municipality of Kando. The training, which began on Monday, November 10, 2025, is supported by Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Burkina in collaboration with the Zood-Noma Association for Development (AZND).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop will run for five days, concluding on Friday, November 14, 2025. Participants will gain knowledge on disaster risk reduction, crisis management, and humanitarian preparedness and response mechanisms. The initiative receives technical support from the National Council for Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation (CONASUR).

The primary aim of the workshop is to equip the municipality of Kando with an effective and appropriate contingency plan to improve its capacity to anticipate, prevent, and respond to crises. This plan is intended to enhance the protection of populations, particularly those in vulnerable situations.

Kamboin-Naaba of Kando, representing the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to WHH and its partners for their ongoing support in local development and community resilience. Arana Pare, President of the special delegation and president of CODESUR, thanked the partners for their support and encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions. He emphasized that the success of the initiative relies on the participation and commitment of everyone involved.

Authorities from administrative, customary, religious, and community sectors in Kando showed strong mobilization and reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging the training to better anticipate and manage potential emergency situations. Upon conclusion of the workshop, Kando will possess a critical strategic tool to enhance the prevention, preparation, and coordination of emergency interventions for the benefit of its population.
