Liptako: The regional director of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism for Liptako and Soum, Bernard Saba, invited media actors in the region on Thursday in Dori to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) tools, so as not to be left behind by technological changes. Comrade Saba was speaking at a training session organized by his management for about fifty journalists and communicators from the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session, held under the theme "Artificial intelligence and journalism: opportunities, limits and ethics," aims to strengthen the capacities of media professionals on the use of AI in their activities. "Artificial intelligence has become an essential working tool," said Saba, inviting stakeholders to better master it while exercising discernment in its use.

In addition to artificial intelligence, participants discussed several topics related to the evolution of the media sector. The discussions focused on the professional use of social media by journalists, the digital transformation of the media, the challenges and opportunities of digital technology, and the techniques of mobile journalism.

Responsible communication in times of crisis and the cultural and touristic potential of the Liptako and Soum region were also discussed. The regional director urged journalists and communicators to make continuing education a priority, given the rapid evolution of technologies and particularly artificial intelligence.

For Saba, media professionals must constantly update their knowledge and practices in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by these new tools, while avoiding their pitfalls. At the end of the session, he expressed satisfaction with the quality of the discussions and the participation of media actors.

He believed that the knowledge gained would help improve the quality of information produced and the performance of journalists and communicators in the region. The participants welcomed the initiative of the regional management and appreciated the lessons learned, which they consider useful for improving their professional effectiveness.
