Trainees from the National Staff School of Koulikoro in Mali (EEMNK) undertook a one-week study trip to Burkina Faso, in order to immerse themselves in the experience of the Burkinabe fighting forces in the field of the fight against terrorism.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso which reported the information, the Malian trainee officers shared the experience of Burkina during an immersion in a military environment and appreciated the quality of collaboration between armies of the Sahel, in connection with the fight against terrorism.
The trainee officers also visited some tourist sites in the Land of Thomas Sankara.
‘Placed under the theme: ‘Strengthening a Sahelian alliance based on a common vision, emphasizing cross-border challenges’, this stay allowed the trainees to inquire about the experiences as well as the quality of the collaboration of the armies of the Sahel in the field of the fight against terrorism,’ reports the General Staff of the Armies of Burkina Faso.

his trip, the same source says, was organized as part of the execution of the academic program for trainees of the 36th promotion of the Koulikoro Higher Military Education School.
This school trains ‘officers capable of integrating into a staff, crisis if necessary, open to the world, mastering writing techniques and office automation and knowing, within the framework of cooperative work, to prepare the decision of the leader, through the application of reasoning methods and the ability to always be proactive,’ explains Colonel Youssouf Oumar Cissé, commander of the EEMNK.
Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger have established a unique military cooperation in Africa, in the fight against terrorism and against all the forces of destabilization of African States, in particular through the Alliance of Sahel States ( AES).
The three States which stood out from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), established, on March 6, 2024 in Niamey, a permanent joint force responsible for fighting against armed
terrorist groups, transnational organized crime and other destabilizing threats.
During the very first summit of the AES countries, held on July 6, 2027 in Niger, the heads of state of the three countries reaffirmed their ‘determination to combat and eradicate together’ terrorism and crime in all forms in within the AES, an area rich in strategic resources of more than 2.7 million square kilometers.
