Mouhoun: On the sidelines of his field tour in Boucle du Mouhoun, the Minister in charge of Secondary Education, Dr. Boubacar Savadogo, met this Monday, July 21, 2025, in D©dougou, with the ministry's officials and agents in the region. A meeting of exchanges, listening, and remobilization around the challenges and reforms underway in the education sector.
According to Burkina Information Agency, before the meeting in D©dougou, Dr. Boubacar Savadogo visited the premises of the regional directorate in D©dougou, where he was able to observe the dynamism of the staff despite the often difficult conditions, particularly linked to insecurity. He praised the resilience of the teams and reaffirmed the government's desire to support those working on the ground.
At the heart of the meeting, a substantive communication was presented by the Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of Secondary Education, Henri Prosper Par©. He traced the genesis of the ministry, born from the desire of the highest authorities to give strong impetus to professional and technical training. Mr. Par© highlighted the main reforms undertaken since its creation, in particular the expansion of training provision, the adaptation of curricula to the needs of the labor market, and the promotion of school-business alternation. Henri Prosper Par© also stressed the importance of local governance of establishments and partnerships with communities and productive sectors.
Participants from secondary education inspectorates, secondary schools, and training centres took the opportunity to share their concerns. According to the regional director in charge of secondary education, Raoul Sanon, the challenges can be summed up as a lack of infrastructure, a lack of qualified human resources, difficulties related to the supervision of learners, and professional integration systems. Local initiatives, such as the opening of new technical sectors or youth entrepreneurship programs, were also presented as reasons for hope.
In his speech, Minister Savadogo reaffirmed his conviction that technical education and vocational training constitute strategic levers for the economic development of Burkina Faso. He encouraged the actors to be more creative and committed, despite security and logistical constraints. Dr. Boubacar Savadogo pledged to bring the grievances to the relevant decision-making levels, while calling for collective mobilization to strengthen the resilience of the education system. He called for unity of action and pedagogical innovation and expressed his conviction that, despite the challenges, the foundations of quality, inclusive education adapted to the country's realities can be laid thanks to the determination of those on the ground.
