Special Delegation Visits Temporary Power Plant in Boulgou

Boulgou: The prefect, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Zabre, Alain B. Bassono, accompanied by several members of the delegation, visited the SONABEL temporary power plant on Monday, November 10, 2026. This plant was installed following the power outage last October. 'It now provides a more stable electricity supply than before,' stated Wendlassida Minoungou, the SONABEL municipal manager.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the areas of Bagre, Zabre, and Gomboussougou experienced power outages during the second half of October due to the failure of essential components in the electrical system. To address this issue, two emergency generators were deployed, restoring the power supply.

The special delegation from Zabre chose Monday to visit the facilities. The PDS stated that the visit aimed to verify the proper functioning of the equipment on-site and to express the municipality's gratitude to SONABEL, the national electricity company. "On behalf of the people, we have come to see firsthand how everything is working, to thank SONABEL for its responsiveness, and to demonstrate our solidarity while encouraging the staff who work on-site all day," the PDS stated.

Mr. Minoungou, representing his superiors, thanked the special delegation and assured consumers of the reliability of the electricity supply. He mentioned that the temporary power plant is providing a stable electricity supply and is working better than the previous one in Bagre. He reassured the public of the stability of the electricity supply while awaiting replacement parts.

He added that the temporary power plant was providing satisfactory service until the Bagre plant was repaired. Initially, load shedding was necessary to serve the entire area, but the issue was resolved by the second day. He also urged local residents to respect the safety barriers around the power plant.

In conclusion, he expressed his gratitude to the people for their patience and understanding during the power outage.
