Ouahigouya: The President of the Northern Regional Special Delegation, Thomas Yampa, extended an invitation on Tuesday during the opening of the first ordinary session of 2025 of the regional council in Ouahigouya. He urged members of the deliberative body responsible for regional development to contribute actively towards achieving tangible results.According to Burkina Information Agency, the statutory members of the Northern Regional Special Delegation have scheduled their first regular session of the year for March 25-26, 2025. President Thomas Yampa noted that the session is commencing amidst challenges, notably the dynamics of territorial reconquest and the revival of socio-economic activities.Numerous challenges persist, particularly in education, the economy, health, and local governance. Yampa encouraged members to fully engage, aiming for more convincing results. He assured them of his commitment to consolidating achievements and continuously improving the region's development indicators.Yampa highlighted that the 2024 budget faced a low execution level at the investment section. However, he pointed out that the region's revenue collection rate was satisfactory despite the security situation. The forecast was 97,936,755 CFA francs, but the amount collected reached 128,245,525 CFA francs, a rate of 130.95%. He extended his congratulations to collaborators and stakeholders for their contributions to this achievement.At the session's commencement, mandates for new members recently appointed in the region were validated. These include Thomas Yampa, Governor of the region, Hamidou Ouédraogo of the regional infrastructure directorate, Gaël Yaméogo of water and sanitation, and Drissa Bélem of secondary education and vocational and technical training.During this first ordinary session, members will review and adopt various agenda items over the two days. These will cover the administrative and management accounts for 2024, the revised Annual Investment Plan (PAI) 2025, the first amended management budg et 2025, and the report on the self-assessment of the 2024 performance of the Regional Council of the North.
