Ganzourgou: The Yidg-yam association held a presentation on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Zorgho multi-sports stadium, showcasing the skills acquired through a school arts training program. The event was attended by Harouna Karambiri, Secretary General of the Ganzourgou Province, representing the High Commissioner.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the performance took place alongside an archery competition and the awards ceremony for the Mount Zong-piiga marathon runners. The workshop focused on the theme of "School Arts Training." The main components of the performance included a slam poetry recitation by one group of students, a storytelling session by another, and a presentation of puppets made from recycled materials. The audience was amazed by the students' skill.
Windinmi Charles Ramde, president of the Yidg-yam association, explained that the initiative aims to allow students to learn the arts and practice them in their local communities. He stated that three disciplines were selected for this training: slam poetry, storytelling, and puppetry. The puppetry component focused on construction and manipulation.
Participants were selected following a radio announcement. Students from the provincial high school, the municipal high school, and the Amitie "A" primary school took part in the training. Twenty students from the Amitie "A" primary school in Zorgho created articulated mouth puppets. According to Mr. Ramde, making and manipulating this type of puppet allows students to articulate words clearly through play.
The second type of puppet created was a two-person articulated puppet, made by the high school students.
The slam poetry and storytelling activities took place from January 24th to 31st, 2026. During this workshop, the children learned to recite and tell stories. The stories focused on integration, solidarity, and peace. Through this initiative, the Yidg-yam association aims to strengthen student involvement in school arts and raise parents' awareness of the benefits of these activities for children's development.
Founded in 2021, the Yidg-yam association carries out activities to benefit students.
