Mouhoun: The populations of Youlou, Oualou, and Oualoubie villages in the commune of Tcheriba marked the anniversary of their return with a ceremony of recognition, dedicated to all the actors who contributed to ending their prolonged ordeal.
According to Burkina Information Agency, one year after their return to lands abandoned due to insecurity, the people of Youlou, Oualou, and Oualoubie celebrated the reconquest of their living spaces and the rebirth of hope. It was on February 1, 2025, that these villages returned to their lands following successful operations by the fighting forces after three years of forced displacement.
These operations of reconquest, mobilization, and return of these populations occurred thanks to the commitment of the fighting forces under the leadership of the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Tcheriba, Ouesseni Logora. On behalf of the people, the elder praised the determination and sacrifice of the fighting forces, which enabled the pacification of their villages for their effective return.
"We salute the commitment and sacrifice of our fighting forces who gave everything, sometimes even their lives, to make this long-cherished dream a reality," he said. He also expressed gratitude to the country's top authorities whose courage, vision, and policies inspire unity and solidarity for the final victory.
The commemoration of their resettlement also provided a platform for exchanges between the administration and the people, allowing them to express grievances while urging them to maintain vigilance, cohesion, and fighting spirit to guarantee collective security and community prosperity.
The President of the special delegation praised the initiative of the people and the progress made since their return. According to Ouesseni Logora, since their resettlement, these populations have shown dignity, resilience, and courage, sparing no effort to care for themselves. He emphasized that the support from authorities is meant to recognize the resilience of these communities and their ability to recover and rebuild.
Aware of the challenges ahead, the municipal authority reassured that actions are in progress to address concerns and improve living conditions sustainably. Despite numerous humanitarian aid packages, the populations have resumed agricultural work with determination, achieving satisfactory results.
"The land has given us far more than we expected," rejoice some producers, viewing this agricultural campaign as a symbol of renewal. By celebrating their return, these communities demonstrate their determination to remain alongside the fighting forces and authorities in the quest for peace, national sovereignty, and the sustainable recovery of Burkina Faso.
