Ouahigouya: The Zogore.tech association, dedicated to promoting digital technology in the Zogore municipality, has successfully launched a training program aimed at empowering approximately 20 young individuals to enhance and expand content related to the Yaadga region on Wikipedia. The participants were lauded and presented with symbolic prizes during a recent ceremony in the city of Naaba Kango.According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, which commenced in July 2025 under the "WikiYaadga 2025" project, involved more than 20 motivated young people dedicated to enriching and promoting content pertinent to the Yaadga region. Over a span of 45 days, young students and schoolchildren underwent training and support to spotlight the history, culture, notable personalities, and strengths of their locality on the platform.The training equipped them with skills to collect, verify, and share reliable information about Yaadga, transforming them from mere consumers of digital content into producers of valuable knowledge. Participants gained proficiency in writing and enhancing Wikipedia articles.Organizers of the training highlighted that the learners are now empowered to contribute sustainably to the visibility of their region, ensuring the general public has access to reliable and updated information about the Yaadga area.The closing ceremony, held at the Colonel Pierre Ouedraogo Digital Access Centre in the commune of Zogore, featured presentations of the improved articles to guests and administrative authorities. Delphine Pagabelem, the Prefect and President of the Special Delegation of Zogore, praised the initiative's successful completion. She stated that by training young individuals to contribute to Wikipedia, they are being prepared to become change agents, responsible digital citizens who can document their own history, defend their cultural identity, and contribute to the construction of collective knowledge accessible to all.The five best contributors were recognized and rewarded, prompti ng Brahima Ouedraogo, the Provincial Director of Youth of Yatenga, to acknowledge them as ambassadors of free knowledge, historians of the present, and cultural mediators of the future.
