High Commissioner Urges Continued Efforts for Reforestation in Gnagna

Gnagna: On the occasion of National Tree Day, celebrated through the "Patriotic Hour to Green Faso" initiative, the High Commissioner of Gnagna Province, Jean Baptiste B©ogo, urged the population to continue their commitment to reforestation. While commencing the mobilization of local stakeholders, he emphasized the importance of maintaining seedlings and prioritizing useful species to ensure the long-term success of this national campaign.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for the 2026 edition of National Tree Day, "My Concession, My Tree," aims to strengthen civic engagement in restoring vegetation cover and combating the effects of climate change. Ms. Bikienga/Alice Lankoand©, First Vice-President of the Bogand© Municipal Special Delegation, reported that more than 500 seedlings were planted during the event. She praised the strong turnout from residents and various segments of society, believing that this enthusiasm reflects a collective desire to preserve the environment and improve their living conditions.

Speaking after the planting session, High Commissioner Jean Baptiste B©ogo congratulated the participants on their commitment and encouraged them to maintain the momentum. He highlighted the significant challenge faced within the framework of the national campaign, noting that the former 'East' region was assigned a target of 800,000 seedlings as part of the national goal of five million trees. B©ogo expressed his appreciation for the stakeholders' involvement and urged them to continue their efforts to ensure the care and survival of the planted seedlings.

The province's top official also emphasized the need for 'planting for good,' prioritizing species adapted to local conditions and likely to contribute sustainably to improving the living conditions of the population and to the economic development of communities. This initiative is part of the national effort to restore degraded ecosystems and promote a civic culture of environmental protection.
