The Burkinabè Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, reaffirmed on Tuesday his commitment to defeating terrorism, despite the intensification of “cowardly” attacks against the unarmed populations.
“We are well aware of the current situation. There is not a single attack or incident of which we are unaware. But if there is also one thing we can assure you: ‘It is that we are never discouraged’. We are convinced of only one thing: ‘We are going to defeat this terrorism,’ Captain Ibrahim Traoré said on Tuesday, according to a recording provided by the Presidency of Faso to the press.
The Burkinabè Head of State discussed with women from the thirteen regions of Burkina Faso, their contribution to a return to peace.
Captain Ibrahim Traoré noted that after eight years, the attacks have intensified, generating “an unprecedented cycle of violence against civilians”.
According to the Head of State, this intensification also proves that the path (of sovereignty, editor’s note) taken by Burkina Faso is displeasing.
President Traoré acknowledged that with the rainy season, mobility is “a bit complicated” for the Combatant Forces.
Nevertheless, the FDS and the VDP are trying to do their utmost to supply the localities in need and ensure their safety, said the authority.
“The enemy also knows that it is necessary to intensify the attacks during this rainy season. So it will seem hard for us, but we have to hold on to get through (this period, editor’s note). It is very important,” recommended the Head of State.
In the opinion of Captain Traoré, the resurgence of attacks against populations with bare hands is above all a matter of cowardice, an admission of helplessness and despair.
“But we will do everything for everything to try to guarantee the lives of individuals,” promised President Ibrahim Traoré.
