Fight against insecurity in the Centre-North: Traditionalists and religious stand in solidarity

On July 29, 2023, a regional forum for “living together” in the Center-North was held in Kaya, under the aegis of His Majesty the Naaba Sigri King of Boussouma, of His Eminence Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo, Archbishop of Ouagadougou. A community framework that brought together residents and nationals of the region of all religious and ethnic persuasions.

It was with a minute’s silence in memory of the compatriots who fell under the murderous bullets of the terrorists that the regional forum of “Living together” of the Centre-North opened on the place of December 11 of the city of leather and couracoura skewers, Saturday July 29, 2023.

Under the theme “Overcoming terrorism in the Centre-North by resorting to our traditional, religious and community values”, the daughters and sons of the region mobilized to bring endogenous solutions to the resolution of the crisis. security and lay the foundations for living together in peace between the different communities that make up this territorial entity of Burkina Faso.

Thus, between prayers, musical entertainment and interventions by religious and traditional leaders, the communities mobilized for the occasion were made aware of the sacred union for a more effective fight against terrorism.

For the speakers, the general interest which is the search for peace should take precedence over the individual gains to which some compatriots unfortunately indulge in disregard for the lives of innocent populations.

Following his spokespersons, His Majesty the Dima of Boussouma called on the sons and daughters of his kingdom, collectively or individually, to stand out from terrorist acts that mourn the innocent.

As a solution to adhering to this principle, the blacksmiths, land chiefs and Peulhs made rituals that would attract curses, worse death on all people who will base their wealth on terrorist acts and the betrayal of their brothers and sisters. sisters.

“So we have to understand that this is necessary, the sacred union of all the sons and daughters of this country. This is the only way open to us to organize ourselves better, to better mobilize resources and intelligence and to block the way to all the groups which only thrive on our divisions” convinced Cardinal Philippe Ouédraogo.

He believes that the first leaders of the country should work to bring together all the sons and daughters without exception around the fight of the nation.

“It is a pity to see that so many families are divided, bruised, displaced because of our misunderstandings, our differences and our divergent points of view. No wealth can replace a peaceful family atmosphere”, regretted the president of the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME) of the Centre-North, Pastor Théodore Sawadogo.

Referring to the Holy Scriptures in Romans 12:18, he invited tolerance, acceptance of differences, listening, esteem and respect for others in a spirit of peace and harmony. .

“We must all be vectors of peace and reconciliation to build together a strong nation, a nation of peace, a nation that fears God” insisted Pastor Théodore Sawadogo.

The spokesman for the Muslim community added, saying that all communities in the region and beyond constitute “a single and indivisible family”.

El Hadj Sana Abdoul Rasmané called for sowing peace, forgiveness, acceptance of others and brotherly love for a flourishing and prosperous region.

According to the economic operators gathered in association, the economy of the Centre-North has been idling since the advent of the security and humanitarian crisis.

Considering itself to be the first concerned by the fight against terrorism, the “Paspaongo” association of economic operators from the Centre-North supported this initiative of the sons and daughters of the region.

They handed over to the president of the regional council for emergency relief (CORESUR), 70 tons of cereals including corn and rice and an envelope of 2.5 million for the benefit of internally displaced persons.

A sum of more than 10 million will also be paid into the public treasury to support the peace effort desired by the President of Faso.

The Days of Living Together in the Center-North follow the observation of the seriousness and the continuous deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation in the Center-North region, in particular since the incidents in Yirgou in February 2019.

The day of Kaya, constitutes, according to the president of the organizing committee Sidnoma Issaka Kaboré, a first stage of the days of living together in the center-North.

According to him, days of community mobilization on the same theme will be organized in the provinces of Bam and Namentenga.
