The province of Ioba holds its first session of COPROSUR coupled with the Provincial Consultation Framework

Dano, The high commissioner of Ioba province, Bernadette Adenyo / Sermé chaired the first session of the provincial emergency relief and rehabilitation council (COPROSUR) devoted to the humanitarian situation coupled with the framework of provincial consultation (CCP ), Tuesday November 14, 2023 in Dano.

The COPROSUR session of the Ioba province focused on two humanitarian points. It was the provincial director of humanitarian action for Ioba, Gouman Evariste Somé, who led communications on the humanitarian situation. He presented the current state of the humanitarian situation in Ioba.

We note that Ioba recorded 2,995 internally displaced persons (IDPs) as of March 30, 2023 according to CONASUR figures. This data must be updated, said Mr. Somé. He also made proposals for actions to improve humanitarian care in the province.

In the second communication, Evariste Somé presented the report on the management of compatriots repressed from neighboring Ghana. Around 320 Burkinabés were returned from Ghana and received in Ouéssa in the province of Ioba last July.

Thanks to the solidarity of the host populations and the support of the government, these returnees benefited from treatment and a return to their locality of origin.

The CCP allowed its members to examine new mercury-free gold processing technology. This single point on the agenda of the provincial consultation framework was developed by the country representative of the NGO Artisanal Gold Council (AGC), Saidou Kabré.

He presented the Planet Gold project before taking stock of their activities in the Ioba province. A mercury-free ore processing unit was installed in Gnikpière in the commune of Dano for the benefit of artisanal miners, said Saidou Kabré. The participants in this combined CCP / COPROSUR session exchanged with humanitarian actors and those involved in gold extraction without harm to the environment and human and animal health.

For the High Commissioner of Ioba, Bernadette Adenyo / Sermé, this session constitutes a space for revitalizing the CCP and COPROSUR. It is also a forum for the search for solutions to the multiple difficulties that the province faces in meeting the challenge of development, she continued.

The High Commissioner noted that the government, with the support of its partners, has taken measures aimed at food and physical security to alleviate the suffering of IDPs.

She welcomed the effective presence of the members of the CCP and thanked them for their contribution, which is so significant, to the well-being of the population and the development of the Ioba province.

Bernadette Adenyo also thanked the AGC for its financial support for holding this session.
